Pompano Beach Piranhas vs Orlando Whalers Results

In the first game of the ABL doubleheader in Ft. Lauderdale Saturday night the Pompano Beach Piranhas steamrolled the visiting Whalers from Orlando 101-73.
This was Pompano Beach's home opener of the season and they won in convincing fashion from start to finish. The Piranhas played stingy defense throughout causing the Orlando Whalers into numerous turnovers missed easy layups.
The Piranhas were led by former Miami Heat and LA Laker star Glen Rice's son Dimitri Rice. Rice scored 24 points and grabbed 6 rebounds and electrified the crowd with a couple of thunderous dunks. Charles Mells, a 7 footer from Arkansas Tech had 14 rebounds and blocked 5 shots for the Pompano beach Piranhas.
The Whalers were led by Kobe Edelsteins 23 points and AJ Sepe, a 5'10 guard from The University of North Florida chipped in with 14 points for the winless Whalers.
In the second game of the doubleheader saw a rematch of the 2014 ABL championship game with the Orlando Lightning taking on the defending ABL champions, Ft. Lauderdale Sharks.
The game saw many lead changes with the Sharks actually holding a 66-64 lead midway through the 3rd quarter. The Lightning from that point on went on a 15-2 run to secure the victory and remain unbeaten and all alone in first place in the young ABL season.
The Orlando Lightning were led by former Central State University standout, Raheem Lemons 19 points and 18 rebounds. Lemons also recorded 5 assists. Nnaji McDaniels, a 6'6 swingman from Albany State chipped a with a game high 23 points for the undefeated Lightning.
Calvin Jenkins scored 19 points for the Sharks and 6'3 guard Martavis Kee from FIU followed with 14 points.
The Ft.Lauderdale Sharks travel to Orlando July 19th to take on the Orlando Whalers.
