The Orlando Lightning started off very strong leading the very tough Orlando Whalers 27 to 18 at end of the first quarter. The Lightning continued to play unselfish basketball in the 2nd quarter earning them 17 assists in the first half and going into the halftime leading 53 to 38. It was in the 4th quarter where the Lightning closed the game out with ball movement and dominating the boards. This brought the Orlando Lightning their first victory 97 to 70. Carlos Montilla lead the Lightning with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals with help from Brandon Crompton earning 18 points shooting 63% from the field and Yves Saintelo added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. The Whalers top scorers were A.J. Sepe with 18 points and Stefan Blair with 17 points, a 6'9 forward from Univ. of Central Florida.
