Fort Lauderdale Sharks stun the Orlando Lightning, 78-68, Friday night in Orlando, Florida.
The Fort Lauderdale Sharks, winners of five of their last six games have taken over sole possession of first place in the American Basketball League by defeating the home team, Orlando Lightning, with four players scoring in double figures.
The Sharks are starting to round into mid-season form defensively by holding the Lightning to 68 points.
The Sharks were led by 6'3" swingman Calvin Joy, who scored a game high 18 points. Former Florida International University standout, Martavis Kee, contributed 12 points. Jared Axon, formerly of Eastern Michigan University chipped in with 10 points and Derek Tartt followed with 10 points for the Fort Lauderdale Sharks, who won their third game in a row.
Orlando was led by Anthony Poindexter, who had 18 points and Carlos Montilla, who scored 14 points for the Orlando Lightning, who have dropped their last three games.
The Fort Lauderdale Sharks return home Saturday night to face the Pompano Beach Cobras at Carter Park Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7pm.
The Orlando Lightning hit the road to face the Palm Beach Hurricane Saturday night at Lake Worth Christian High School. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
